About
Marcus Burns is a Master of Social Work graduate student specializing in Social Change and Innovation at the University of Southern California (USC). He hopes to advance the social work practice by contributing to the integration of evidence-based methods. Marcus’s goal is to serve vulnerable populations and to be as informed as possible in these efforts. As an undergraduate at CSUDH, he studied Sociology and developed his comprehension of the many insidious societal injustices. His transition from Sociology into his current MSW program was inspired by his desire to contribute to the advancement of the marginalized groups most affected by these injustices. Mr. Burns previously worked with the unhoused population of Skid Row and currently provides service coordination for individuals with developmental disabilities. In addition, Marcus now serves as an MSW Student Consultant at KLBRI where he will gain invaluable experience that will support his preparation as an emerging social work professional. Marcus believes in lifelong learning and is intent on his perpetual growth as a social worker and person. The only things more important to him than his growth and service are his wife and son, who help to strengthen his resolve to achieve his goals.
