About
Maggie Uribe’s experiences with parental incarceration and being in the carceral system as a young person shaped her worldview and guided her to become “the person she needed when she was young ''. Maggie became a teaching artist for Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural’s 'From Trauma to Transformation' in 2018 where she facilitated art workshops in juvenile facilities, community spaces, adult re-entry homes, and at the California Institution for Men in Chino, CA. She has facilitated creative workshops in several youth centers such as; Casa Esperanza in Panorama City and Chuco’s Youth Justice Center. She is a trained restorative justice circle facilitator and Xinachtli Rites of Passage Facilitator. Currently, Maggie works professionally with Project Avary in the Bay Area; servicing children with incarcerated parents. When she’s not at the office working (and listening to music while making everyone listen to her off-key singing), Maggie enjoys reading, watching youtube music videos, and being out in the sun!
